I recently picked up Mavericks at Work after reading this interview that Guy Kawasaki did with co-author,Mavericks at Work Polly LaBarre. I’ve only read the first third of the book, and I can say so far I’m really enjoying it. The authors discussion of how corporate language can shape unique organizational behaviour really struck home.

I normally recommend books after finishing them, but Jerry Michalski sent me a note about this week’s Yi-Tan Community Technology call where Polly LaBarre will be the guest speaker.

It is a free call to join. (I was recently a speaker on a Yi-Tan call on the topic of Burning Man & Gift Economies).

Here are the details for tomorrow’s call.

What do the best entrepreneurs and managers do that others don’t? The book Mavericks at Work explores this territory, with really useful results. With co-author Polly LaBarre, let’s explore:

* What traits distinguish mavericks? Who has them?
* What are value systems? How do mavericks use them?
* How do mavericks use the new architecture of participation?

As always, an IRC Chat will be available during the call, here.
