Many years ago, I dreamt of creating a secure privacy overlay network with implications for free speech and Internet civil rights. While the Freedom Network may be gone - there are great people working on the same issues.

I ran across the great project from the University of Toronto’s - Citizen Lab called the OpenNet Initiative.

They have a great visualization tool that demonstrates which countries around the world are filtering Internet content. Check it out.

If you live in one of these regimes, or would like some private browsing the great team at the Electronic Frontier Foundation is supporting the Tor Project which has a lot in common with the Freedom Network Zero-Knowledge Systems built.
