Change the World, Win a Prize, Step right up…2007 TEDPrize winners

Attending the TED conference is the highlight of my conference year. The environment, people, discussions and speakers are all incredible. Years ago I spoke at the TEDCity conference in Toronto which was an incredible experience. Attending these last two years in Monterey has been a mind opening experience.

I blame Chris Anderson and the incredible team at TED for inspiring me to leave Radialpoint and start Project Ojibwe. A seed was planted at the 2005 TED conference that grew causing Alex Eberts and I to start project Ojibwe. Last year’s TED conference was a tipping point - and by May of last year we decided to jump back into the ‘changing the world’ business.
I can’t recommend the TEDtalks enough. There is so much great material in there. The TED team and their sponsors should be thanked for making this incredible gift available freely on the net.
For entrepreneurs, think of the great guest speakers you could have present for 18 minutes to your team at a brown bag lunch. Bono, Anthony Robbins, Majora Carter, Dr. Larry Brilliant, Cameron Sinclair- the list goes on.
The TEDPrize is a fantastic addition to TED that was started in 2005. It honors three people fantastic people are making a positive impact on the future of the planet and helping to change the world. They are awarded $100,000 as a grant and a wish that the TED community helps make happen.
The 2007 TED Prize winners were just announced. Congratulations to photojournalist James Nachtwey, biologist Dr. E.O Wilson and President Bill Clinton (now doing incredible work with the Cliton Global Initiative with my buddy Ira Magaziner who did a lot of work on privacy & healthcare while at the White House). I can’t wait to see the presentations this year in March. Here is the video announcing the 2007 TEDPrize winners.
